Datha Rameswaram----Famous temples of M.T.M

A theory goes round that tidal waves, when in progress, lose their momentum, break down and recede when they have to cross another body of water,..…Advocates of this theory argue that was the reason why the sea surge stopped at c.g. palem kaalava in 1864 vuppena and in 1978, coming from diviseema. also stopped at the same kaalava…. .I, personally don”t subscribe to it… If that was the case, then how could it inundate diviseema, which was full of crisscrossing canals and backwaters and ,..anyway geologists might explain it better……. But some people do believe in it and it might have been the secret behind Datha Rameswaram…

Datha rameswaram is a very new addition to the long list of Machilipatnam "s temples---built in 1992,January and Febraury to be precise---- Nestling in the sands at the beach, at Manginapudi,it is considered by a lot of faithful followers to be a repository of H.H.Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy"s yogic wisdom, manthra sakthi and also a kind of geo-physical little mysterious law....For, he was said to have assured his followers at Bandar, that tidal waves were not going to trouble their place hence...People believe that the depression in 1996,which hovered menacingly near Bandar for forty eight hours, receded only on account of the twelve wells ,the swamiji ordered to be dug....

To start from the begining.....A siva temple called Nagareswaraswami temple was built about two and half decades back on the manginapudi beach with the combined efforts of SriChintha Somasundara josyulu and Sri Mushti Venkata sastry and some other devotees...The installation ceremony was conducted under the supervision of H.H.Paramahams pushpagiri peethadhipathi...Idols of Ganga, parvathi,Kumaraswami were also installed and it used to be a sight seeing spot for the tourists that were visiting the beach....Set in rather spacious grounds, just few yards from the sea, lonely and swept by the salty sea winds, the temple is indeed a picturesque spot...

But it is a fact, that manginapudi beach has too few visitors on a normal day...and coupled with reasons that we do not know, the temple went in to neglect and even the daily dhoopam and deepam ceased after some time...Pained to see this , the temple trust board handed the administration of it to the ashram of Sri GanaPathi Sachidananda swamiji of Mysore....Thankfully, the ashram quickly restored the daily poojas and took up the development works...A mukhamantapam was built and dhwaja sthanbham was erected with due rituals...

In 1992, january, the swamiji himself came down to Bandar and consecrated a temple to lord Dattatreya, and on february sixth inaugurated the twlve wells, he caused to be dug out in the premises of the temple....and called the place as Datha Rameswaram....These wells are named as Audumbar, aamalaka, nirvindya, padma, sarva, nitmochana, pampa, jayalakshmi, narahari, sri ganapathi sachidananda, sri datta, and anagha...A lot of ritualistic yantram, manthram, was performed by the swamiji....after which, he announced the place as equal to the great kshetram Rameswaram it self and assured that anyone who would bathe at the sea ,at these wells ,and had a darshan of the lord would be automatically freed of great sins ....

Every full moon day, ksheerabhishekam to the lord Dattatreya, and datta homam takes place here and almost all the visitors to the beach come in and have darshan daily,...While some devotees specifically visit to see the kshetram...The temple is busiest on the full moon days of aa .kaa.maa.vy..months...namely aashadha, karthika, magha and vysakha pournamis, when visitors turn up in large numbers for Samudrasnanalu...A two storied building was also constructed nearby to house the international center for kriya yoga,by H.H .swamiji...
